Before I jump into today’s post I want to mention the recent hurricanes. As a beauty blogger, I’m not sure how much I should talk about the world outside of beauty but I also don’t want to seem as if I don’t notice or don’t care. I didn’t post anything here, or on my social media, about Harvey because I didn’t feel like anything I said could matter. But, I donated to the cause and continue to pray for Houston as they recover. When Irma went through parts of Florida where I have family and friends living, including my sister, I felt like I should say something. I’m thinking of everyone affected and praying as they begin to rebuild.
I’m pretty sure the last time I posted about eyebrows was in 2015. (So, 2 years ago- that’s so strange to me!) As we know, eyebrows are important to the overall facial look. My eyebrows aren’t great but are easy enough to work with. There are a few sparse areas and one is slightly thicker and a little higher on my face so I try to even them out just a tad without looking over done. Previously, I tried sculpting my brows and carving them with concealer but it started to look unnatural and honestly, it’s a lot of work. Now I just fill in the areas that need it. Working with my natural growth is the easiest for me and keeps them from looking silly.
I’m a big fan of Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel and Brow Whiz. I’ve been using just the pencil for a number of years. But when I started budgeting for skin care products to heal my problem skin, I thought I should find something for my brows at a lower price point. My skin is my priority but that doesn’t mean I want just anything for my brows. To me, the tone of the ABH pencil was perfect for my facial coloring, so I want something similar. I also want a quality product that is easy to use and stays on all day. I had heard a lot about the L’Oreal Brow Stylist Definer so I finally decided to try it.
Affordable Eyebrow Products
Swatches L to R: Brow Stylist Definer, Brow Whiz
Brow Stylist Definer: I was impressed by the color range of this line. There are 6 shades! I chose Dark Brunette and it seems to match my brows well. As you can see it’s definitely more of a cool tone but I do like it. The fine tip is easy to control and fill in sparse areas.
Brow Stylist Plumper Brow Gel Mascara: This mascara is perfect for a quick application. When I’m trying to get out the door it’s easy to swipe this on and go. It adds just enough color but is buildable. Because it’s a gel, it holds brows in place, too.
Control Freak Eyebrow Gel: This isn’t a firm hold but it does the job. It can be used over powder or pencil to seal brows. Isn’t the name funny? I don’t use this as often but it’s a great option if you don’t want any extra color.
Used just the Brow Stylist Definer here for reference.

Even though the color isn’t an exact match to the Anastasia Beverly Hills products I’m pleased with the L’Oreal products. I still keep a Brow Whiz on hand but use the Brow Stylist Definer for everyday. Filling in the sparse areas and taming my brows are my biggest priority and I think with these products I can do just that! An ABH pencil lasts me a few months but it’s still nice to have good options for affordable eyebrow products.

You’re so sweet to mention the hurricanes! I totally know what you mean about feeling like what you have to say about Harvey or Irma might not be important – but it is!!!!! My family and I live in Houston and are incredibly blessed to be safe after Harvey. Just reading your intro to this post put a huge smile on my face. So, from all of us in Houston, thanks for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers!!! <3

You’re welcome Kaitlin! Thank you for stopping by!
I’m obsessed with the Brow Definer Stylist from Loreal – it’s one of my faves! I also love the Rimmel Brow this way – it’s like a creamy formula and under $5!
I haven’t tried that, maybe it’ll be next! Pencil is so quick but a creamy powder may fill in better. Thanks!
