My most shopped product is consistently mascara. And my most viewed blog post is still Drugstore Mascaras You Need to Try.  Which means you are gals after my own heart! It’s no secret that mascara is one of my favorite products. And lashes are one of my favorite parts of getting ready! Which means I want them to look the best they can. Luckily, I’ve found a product that really gives them some extra oomph. Want to amp up your lashes? Here’s how!

Use a lash primer!  That’s it. Really. It’s that easy!

I started using lash primer a couple of years ago and it changed everything for me. Not only do they give a base to mascara, but primers also contain conditioning properties.

Here are a few primer and mascara combos to try. I made sure to include a combo for 3 different price points. I’ve personally used all of these and would repurchase any of them.

1. Tarte Opening Act Lash Primer + Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara

2. L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Primer + Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara

3. Essence Volume Booster Lash Primer and Lash Princess Mascara

This Lancôme primer is also really good!

If the price tag is a little high for Tarte or Lancôme, I recommend getting a mini size and trying that to make sure you like it. Honestly, they last quite a while so you might not even need a full size.

Tips

For me, it works best to do one eye at a time. I apply the primer (one or 2 coats), apply the mascara (2 or 3 coats), and then do the other eye. I don’t let the primer completely dry.

Another lash tip – I prefer the darkest black I can use on my top lashes but I find it tends to pull my lower lid down a little and would sometimes smudge.  Instead, I use a lighter shade (like brown-black) on my lower lashes. Plus, this creates dimension around my eyes! Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is my current go-to.

I don’t usually wear liner, but recently I noticed how much more full my lashes look when I have liner along the base. Not a wing or anything fancy, just a quick line. I’ve been using the Sex Kitten liner from Tarte.

I just love it when my lashes are their best and I know you will, too! Try a lash primer and my tips and let me know what you think!

Have you tried a lash primer?
