Every 7 weeks, I get my hair cut (trimmed if you will) to keeps the shape. My appointment was scheduled for the week after the city shut salons down soooo, my hair is definitely starting to feel heavy and is just not laying nicely. I know in the grand scheme, hair is not that big of a deal. But, I also know that it really changes how we feel. And with everything turned upside down, we just want to feel like ourselves. So, I thought it would be helpful to share some hair tips for quarantine including products and style ideas that will help you feel a little more put together until your next appointment.

Hair Tips for Quarantine
Use Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo is always a good idea. But, when you are home for days on end its a great idea. The less effort, the better, right? My 2 favorites are both by IGK. Direct Flight I like to use on 2nd or 3rd day hair and First Class after that. They both smell great and have no color to them, which is a huge perk for darker hair.
Refresh Color at Home
If you’re not already using a colored shampoo or conditioner to keep your color fresh, give it a try. It’s just like when your stylist puts a tone or a glaze on your hair at the salon – freshens up your color and leaves it shiny. If you have blonde in your hair, a purple shampoo will help neutralize brassy tones. I have balayage with a caramel tone – so I use a colorwash every few times I shampoo. A color wash or colored shampoo/conditioner adds color pigment into your hair. Note – It’s not made to change your color allover – only pre-lightened pieces.
If your goal is to cover gray, try a gray concealer or root touch up product. It may be tempting to grab a box of color on your next grocery run – but keep in mind that the product in that box is different from what your stylist uses and it may not give you the right result. Even if it looks okay now, it may make it harder on your stylist when you get back to your usual routine.
Use an Invisibobble
I like using an Invisibobble when I want to throw my hair up but don’t want any kinks that would make me need to restyle it. Like when I work out and when I’m sleeping. Plus, they seem to hold my hair really well without the same tension of a traditional “elastic” hair tie.
Try Easy Styles
Again, the less effort, the better these days. I want to mix up my hair when I go into the office but I don’t really want to spend a lot of time on it. I love the way braids look! And that they hide grown out color and keep grown out layers away from the face. If you aren’t good at braiding – twists work well, too! And of course, hats and headbands are not only super practical but stylish as well. Quarantine is the perfect time to throw on a ball cap to get one more day out of your hair.
