A Look at Maybelline Better Skin Foundation

Towards the end of the summer I was on a big Maybelline brand makeup kick.  I purchased Fit Me Matte + Poreless foundation and matching powder in two colors (each) because I loved the way they looked on my skin.  Plus, the Fit Me concealer is a favorite – I re-bought it a couple of times already. So, of course, when I saw Maybelline Better Skin Foundation advertised I was excited to try it.

When reviewing foundations, I look at these factors – coverage, consistency, longevity (or lasting power), color and scent. I have combination-oily skin.

Coverage: It has a nice coverage that seems to hide my imperfections.

Consistency: The texture is nice and smooth. It applies and blends in easily.

Longevity: The staying power isn’t there. I wore it for a few days and each day it came off my chin before work was over.

Color: The color matched both my face and neck very well. I’m impressed by the line’s large color selection.

Scent: I don’t remember much of a scent. This factor really only matters when the scent is unpleasant.

More Information

According to Maybelline, this foundation “provides all day flawless coverage and improves skin over time”.  It’s oil free and contains SPF 15 and Vitamin C. They also say, ” Our fade-proof formula won’t transfer and looks just applied all day”. This foundation is available in 14 colors. Better Skin is $8.29-11.99.

Yay or Nay? I really thought I’d like this foundation because it can be hard to find a color that matches so well. Plus, the benefits sounded exactly like what my skin needs.  But it didn’t seem to work for me. It came down to longevity. My chin is my biggest problem area for oil and therefore, is where I tend to breakout.  I thought it would help keep the oil in that area in check.  Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. I’ll stick with my Fit Me products but the Better Skin foundation was definitely a nay, in my book.

Haven’t tried it! Thanks to my skin care, I am foundation free! No more covering up! I just use a light mineral powder with built in peptides that are good for my skin!
