It’s been a minute since I’ve done a foundation review here on Caitlin Cosmetologist. But, I’ve tried some great ones that I’m excited about so they’re back! I’ve been using Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless for years and have repurchased several times recently. Most of my previous reviews were about foundations that were new to me so I didn’t think about this one. BUT this is a fabulous product for ladies with oily skin so it deserves a shout out.
I would say this is a favorite. Why? The formula and color selection. I also like the additional products in the Fit Me line. I’ll get to the formula and color choices in a moment. As for the complimentary products, I’ve been using the Fit Me concealer for a few years and recently purchased the loose powder which I like so far. I’ve also used the pressed powder which is great, too! Maybelline also makes Fit Me blushes, bronzers, and a stick foundation. It’s nice having so many base makeup options that work with my skin tone.
Along with color, I also look at the coverage, consistency, longevity (or lasting power), and scent.
How’d Matte + Poreless do?
Why I Love Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation
Coverage: I would say this foundation is medium-full coverage but doesn’t look or feel heavy. It really does help to mattify and smooth out texture and pores which gives my skin an overall natural look.
Consistency: The formula is creamy and blends well into my skin. I apply this with both a brush and a sponge. Lately, I’ve been using a brush to apply and then using a sponge to blend with concealer.
Longevity: Great wearability! If you’ve read any of the other foundation reviews or skincare posts, you know that I have combination skin with an oily chin and nose. Although my skin has gotten much better thanks to my current skincare products, I still want something that I know will last all day without separating from the oil. This one seems to hold up! I do always blot my t-zone at lunch and apply some powder in case I look shiny. I do the same if I’m going somewhere after work and this foundation still looks good.
Color: I’m so impressed with this color range. There are 40 shades available! Within those 40 are shades like porcelain, ivory, buff, tan, and beige so you should be able to find a color that fits your skin tone. I was surprised that I like porcelain shades on myself since in most other foundations ivory seems to work better for my cool undertone. But, if it works, I’ll take it!
Scent: I don’t notice much of a scent when I apply this one. I’m sure there’s one but I’m used to it by now, haha!
Some Other Details
Maybelline states that this foundation evens and perfects skin. I agree with that!
Fit Me products are meant to match skin tone. And this foundation is designed for normal to oily skin. If you are normal to dry skin you could try the Fit Me Dewy + Smooth foundation. I haven’t tried that one but based on Matte + Poreless I imagine it’s pretty good.
I purchase my Maybelline Fit Me from Target ($5.99) or Ulta ($7.99) especially when there’s a BOGO 50% off with Maybelline which happens often.
I’m currently wearing 110 Porcelain. I chose a shade that is close to my natural but I could use it with bronzer when I’m self-tanning. I think the tone is perfect for me! This close-up picture is accentuating my tan quite a bit, haha! But, you get the idea of the consistency.
Concealer | Powder | Foundation
Yay or Nay? It’s pretty obvious this is a yay for me. My favorite may change but for now, I’m loving Matte + Poreless! If you haven’t tried it I definitely think you should. I do wish this had a pump but my only real complaint is that I have a hard time finding a concealer to go with the shade I’m currently wearing. The lightest Fit Me concealer seems too dark. I think the tones make it look that way. If you have any suggestions for a light concealer- please let me know!
I’ve tried other drugstore lines that had several tone options but weren’t mattifying or were mattifying but didn’t go with my skin tone. This one does both! For those that struggle with finding a foundation that matches your skin tone, I suggest this one. If you don’t but you have oily skin and/or large pores- this ones for you!
