How I Refresh My Hair

How I Refresh My Hair | Caitlin Cosmetologist

I like to stretch out my hairstyles as long as possible, even more so in the colder months. This past year I’ve been stretching them to 3 or more days. Work From Home life, haha. My hair tends to be on the dry side so washing it every day makes it even drier. I’ve found that if I stick to lighter products and go a day (or more) without shampooing, it seems to feel pretty normal. But, it loses volume, looks slightly dull, and maybe even oily in the scalp area which is not the look I’m going for. I feel like I’ve finally found the best way to quickly refresh my hair while solving these problems, saving time, and helping keep my hair healthy.

Here are the steps for how I refresh my hair!

Dry Shampoo

Generally, for my second-day hair, I only need dry shampoo and a little teasing action. My current favorite is IGK Direct Flight.

I’ve heard that dry shampoo can be tricky for some. So, I wanted to share some tips.

Tip: use dry shampoo before bed to absorb oil overnight and save time in the morning.

I always spray dry shampoo at the underside of my scalp area. This helps avoid too much shine, which can make my hair look oily. Then, I work it in with my fingers, to activate the product and give some volume.

Another thing I like to do when I refresh my hair is to change the style by adding a headband or braid. Both options help hide oily scalp areas or hair that has lost its body.  They also both provide versatility and add some fun to an everyday style!
