Top Makeup for Oily Skin

Top Makeup for Oily Skin | Caitlin Cosmetologist | Looking for makeup that lasts on oily skin? Here are my top makeup products to control shine and minimize pores.

Finding makeup products that last on oily skin is a challenge. Especially when it’s hot and humid! To give you a place to start, here are my top makeup products to control shine and minimize the look of pores for a flawless base.

Really, it’s only my t-zone that’s oily but it’s very oily so, I look for mattifying and long-lasting options. There’s a mix of price points. I hope this list is helpful!

Primers

Supergoop! Mattescreen SPF 40: I’ve shared this primer before. It’s a great option for a sunscreen that keeps skin matte. It has a slight tint but that hasn’t been an issue with my fair skin.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Lock Primer: This is the best primer I have found so far, in terms of mattifying power. The product looks white but applies clear. It’s also nice that it’s under $15!

Foundations

Tarte Skin Treat: I was shocked at how much I like this tinted moisturizer! It’s a light-medium, buildable coverage with a natural matte finish. Matte foundations tend to look flat or dry and dewy or natural glowing skin is very in right now, so I’m happy to find something that gives me that effect while not breaking up terribly on my oily skin. It does have SPF 20. I wear the shade light when I am self-tanned.

L’Oreal Fresh Wear Foundation: For a full review, read my previous post here. This is another formula I didn’t think would work for me, but did. It’s also a natural matte finish but is a medium-full buildable coverage. It has SPF 25 and claims to have 24-hour wear. And is $15 or less.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation: If you like a full coverage foundation, this is for you! I always thought full-coverage formulas looked too thick on my skin, but this one is lightweight with a soft matte finish. And it lasts well (claims to be 16-hour wear!).  It’s also free of parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten. It’s vegan and has SPF 15. I have the shade, Fair Sand but think I could get something a bit darker now.

Setting Powders

Essence Brighten Up! Banana Powder: I use this powder to set the concealer around my eyes. Most banana powders are too deep for me, but this one is perfect! It’s a nice fine consistency and doesn’t crease.

Makeup Revolution Bake and Blot: This is another great one for the eye area! I like the translucent shade. Also, the packaging is really pretty.

Maybelline FitMe! Loose Powder: This is one of the best drugstore finishing powders. No noticeable smell, nice texture, and looks great on the skin. I use Fair Light.

Setting Sprays

Urban Decay All Nighter Ultra Matte Makeup Setting Spray: This setting spray uses a patented Temperature Control Technology to control shine for 16 hours. It’s oil-free, paraben-free, cruelty-free & vegan.

Milani Make It Last Matte Charcoal Setting Spray: I really loved the original Make It Last and this version, with charcoal, is amazing for absorbing oil and blurring pores. It’s free of parabens, sulfate, dye, and aluminum and locks in makeup for 16 hours. All for $10. What a steal!

Touch-up Products

Oil-Absorbing Sheets: I use these at lunchtime before applying powder. They really work! If you find yourself adding powder throughout the day using an oil blotting sheet to remove the excess oil first will make a world of difference.

Powder: I keep a powder in my purse to touch up when I’m out and about. But, it appears L’Oreal Infalliable Powder is not being made anymore. So, I’ll have to try the replacement, Infallible 24HR Fresh Wear Foundation In A Powder, and see how it works. I imagine it will work well for touch-ups but don’t want to say yet.
